Can I go private to speed up scans?

Can anyone advise whether a person who has received dodgy blood results can see a private consultant for scans quickly instead of waiting to be called by nhs which could be weeks? It's a family member. They have had a call to say a couple of results are off and they must wait for hospital to contact them to see a consultant. Family member is obviously beside themself. I'm annoyed as doctor said "it's probably not a tumour but if it is they'll fine it". This comment has frightened the person greatly.

I have the means to pay for this. Can I somehow book them in for scans and a consultation elsewhere more quickly? How does it work?

Any advice please. Thank you.

Thank you for the reassurance. I am going to suggest they ask for a copy of the blood results and have a quick Dr Google myself then book an appointment elsewhere for peace of mind.

Many thanks.

Don't Dr Google as it always comes up with worse case scenarios, If there issue any chance it is cancer it would be acted on in days.
