IUD strings suddenly hanging outside my body 5 months after insertion, is this normal!?

Hello!

I got my first copper IUD fitted last August. About a week after I got it put in I felt my strings hanging outside my body and after Internet research realised that was normal until they settle into the cervix and I simply pushed them back in.

After 6 weeks I went for a check up to see if the IUD had settled and the doctor said it was all good, the stings had now curled up into my cervix.

The strings have stayed up since, until last week. I was in the shower and removing my moon cup and after I took it out I felt my IUD strings were out. I got scared that the suction of the moon Cup had pulled it out, but I had no cramping or pain or any unusual abdominal feeling. So I assumed that the suction may have drawn the string down but not pulled the IUD itself. My period ended that day and I didn't think about it since. Then this evening (the 13th day of my cycle) I saw that my strings were outside my body again Shock.

I'm a little bit scared that my IUD has moved, but I havent experienced any cramps or pain? Can your IUD strings sometimes come outside your body even months after insertion?

There are many questions about the strings coming out online, but none months after the insertion! If anyone could let me know their experience or knowledge, you would be saving me much much worry!

Many thanks

You need to put your finger up to see if you can feel your IUD protruding through your cervix. If you can feel it then you need to see your doc.

Sounds like it's slipping out. When mine did this, when my strings were physically there. I just had a felt and it was coming out, so i just pulled it a tiny bit and it come out. Didn't hurt. Went to the doctors, told them it fellciut and had a new one 're inserted.

I pulled it because I didn't want the strings getting caught and ragged and it causing some damage. Have a feel before you decide to pull though. To see it's angle and how far it's come out.
