Coughing up green stuff - urgh - what helps?

I have had a cold for a few days (since Saturday?) that has not started to get any better yet (tomorrow i guess it will!) and today have started coughing. I sound a bit like a 40 a day smoker v.attractive. Have now started coughing up gross sticky bogey green mucus. Urgh.

What helps? Cough medicine recommendations etc pls.

if it's green, it is probably an infection. get thee to the doctor's.

antibiotics sounds like chest infection tbh

I don't think its a chest infection - its only been a day and my chest doesn't hurt, just want to stop coughing and feel a bit less shite.

If you are convinced it's not an infection, boringly rest, fluids, IIRC honey and lemon in hot water is as good as the bogstandard benylin type cough medicines.

green = infection so a trip to the GPs
