Rash on back

Ds (14mth) started with a few little spots on the back of his neck yesterday morning - I thought it had something to do with maybe is bib rubbing on it/heat rash.

Anyway nursery asked me today if I had noticed the rash on his back, I said yeah and told them it was probably from his bib. However, when we got home I noticed it has got much worse today - it is covering all of the back of his neck and he has a few spots down his back too.

He seems ok ih himself, has been a bit grumpy in the middle of the night and when I picked him up from nursery but think he is teething more than anything (he hasn't ever got a rash through teething before)

Do you reckon it might just be a heat rash if he seems fine in evry other aspect?

chickenpox or have you changed washing powder ?

Chloe55 · 25/04/2007 17:44

No, haven't changed washing powder - would chicken pox start on the neck - and before showing sypmtoms of poorliness?

Not always ill at all. dd's first one was on her shoulder, ds' behind his ear.

jofeb04 · 25/04/2007 17:52

Both ds and dd had spots (chicken pox) on their back. Neither were ill before hand

Chloe55 · 25/04/2007 17:54

Oh shit - I have never had it either! Best not to jump to conclusions yet though - gonna see if I can post a pic of it. Give me a sec

They don't seem to be bothering him too much.

They actually look worse than that - just took pic on camera phone which doesn't really show detail.

hmm woudln't say poxy , yet, too much of a cluster. However if he is covered tomorrow you'll know for sure.

Jelley · 25/04/2007 20:05

No, doesn't look like chicken pox to me, either. Heat? Or allergic reaction to something? Have you put sun cream on him there maybe?

Chloe55 · 25/04/2007 20:08

Yeah, I think heat rash - not sure about the suncream, I guess nursery might have put some on him, no but that wouldn't explain it starting yesterday. I'm sure it is probably just heat rash though.
