sadly not a transplant call (sorry). The carers are wanting more people trained up in preparation for the summer holidays. Seems like everyone is now preparing for the long haule now, no more dreams about it being temporary. [sighs]

GameGirly · 25/04/2007 14:35

I'm sorry, Misdee. Keep your chin up, you're such a strong, inspiring person.

ComeOVeneer · 25/04/2007 14:35

OH I should be ready to email you tonight with dd's penpal. I finally got the last of the info collected this morning.

suejonez · 25/04/2007 14:36

surely they are beind cautious and planning ahead Misdee, they can't be caught short with no carers over the summer can they?

Misdee. Am keeping everything crossed that the call comes soon.

misdee · 25/04/2007 14:42

phone went along the lines of

'hi Its L from the VAD team, how is peter'

fill her in on peters current state, pain etc etc, then jokingly say

'thought it might be someone calling to say you have a heart for him'

'oh no that would be the co ordinators'

'yes i know, but its been so long.....'

LilRedWG · 25/04/2007 14:43

LilRedWG · 25/04/2007 14:43

Fimbo · 25/04/2007 14:43

Awwh Misdee I thought this was it too.

Budababe · 25/04/2007 14:43

Hope it comes soon misdee - I really do.

Pinkchampagne · 25/04/2007 14:46

I thought this was it too, misdee. Really hoping you get that call soon.xx

Whoooosh · 25/04/2007 14:47

I thought it was the call to but the lack of exclamation marks suggested otherwise.
Hang in there.

misdee · 25/04/2007 14:47

when its the call, it will be up there with lights and bells on.

hunkermunker · 25/04/2007 14:49

I thought of you this morning - piece in Metro about organ donation (statistics). Wondered if you'd thought about contacting them to do a RL face-of-being-on-the-list piece?

Whoooosh · 25/04/2007 14:50

Hmm-I had a feelng that would be the case which was why I didn't get too excited.

SO sorry you are still waiting but hopefully with more people trained you won't ever be without a carer-and once Peter has his new heart those carers will be of great help to others.

misdee · 25/04/2007 14:51

HM we are in talks at the moment of doing an article highlighting the height issue, length of time on the list and the length of time on the LVAD (658days now)

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 25/04/2007 14:54

With Metro? That's brilliant, Misdee. I was tempted to go "look, have you all seen this article? I know someone who's on the list - please can I urge you all to become donors and tell your nearest and dearest of your wishes" but I wasn't brave enough - commuters are scary. I did wonder about passing out leaflets of some sort though.

AitchTwoOh · 25/04/2007 14:54

och misdee, i thought that was the call for a wee minute there. hopefully they're just working ot rotas now for holiday cover and it doesn't actually mean anything.

misdee · 25/04/2007 14:55

freelance journo, but usually once article appears we get several more offers.

OP posts:
saltire · 25/04/2007 14:57

hunker I once stood on Waverly station, having just got back from visiting my dad in hospital, and handed out loads of leaflets to complete strangers highlightin organ donation. I know what it's like to live with someone waiting for the call to come.

Misdee, I didn't know anything about this at all. What exactly is wrong with your ds? (or is it dp?)
