Apart from labour

I would say a back injury I suffered as a child , that was painful.

Cracked and bruised ribs.

Also treading on Lego. X

Gallstones/pancreatitis after I had my DD. Worst pain ever, being doubled over on the floor with a new born is so scary!

SadieHH · 05/01/2018 19:09

Ear infection in both ears. I cried solidly for 10 days with the pain before anything touched it. Labour was far far easier.

trinity0097 · 05/01/2018 19:11

Gallstone moving from my gallbladder into my duct.

On-call doctor took hours to get to me, nurse on the ward even tried to go and fetch him but he wouldn’t come.

I seriously, in my pain induced haze, considered calling an ambulance from my hospital bed as I didn’t know what to do and knew I needed pain relief that the nurse couldn’t give me!

Earache from a perforated ear drum. Labour was a breeze compared to it!

GreyMorning · 05/01/2018 19:32

Sciatica.

earlylifecrisis · 05/01/2018 19:35

Shingles where the rash/blisters was on the roof of my mouth and my gums. Agonising.

grasspigeons · 05/01/2018 19:37

This dry socket thing - how long does it last?

I am scheduled to have 4 wisdom teeth out and its come up an awful lot on this thread.

Niskasrevenge · 05/01/2018 19:41

Pericarditis - an infection of the sac that surrounds the heart. The pain is almost identical to a heart attack. It's unbearable, especially when lying down. And, additionally, just to add to the fun, one of the accompanying symptoms is an overwhelming feeling of fear and dread.

It was the worst time of my life.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 05/01/2018 19:41

Having an MVA (manual vacuum aspiration, which is exactly as it sounds) for a missed miscarriage, awake and with no pain relief. Fuck me that hurt, it was only 10 minutes or so but jeez. They give pain relief and gas and air now but it was quite new when I first had it done. Awful.

aishana · 05/01/2018 19:42

Unbelievably it was in one of my toes!!

In about 2009 i must've broken it & developed some kind of arthritis or even gout?? Not sure as I never got a proper answer from the gp!!

It became red & very swollen & tight - like my skin was too tight for the swelling. I remember crying in agony one night as the pain was intense.

The gp prescribed 15mg meloxicam for 3 weeks which I took with co-codamol. The swelling lessened & so did the pain.

It hurts occasionally still but not that intense agony.

I feel like such a wuss describing that but basically I have no pain threshold!

Pasithea · 05/01/2018 19:44

Permanent pancreatitis for 45 years. Daily morphine injections help but not for long

falange · 05/01/2018 19:44

A bone that broke in different places. Worse than childbirth.

Vinorosso74 · 05/01/2018 19:49

Breaking my arm. Snapped across the middle of both the radius and ulna. Initially I felt the sting of the graze on my hand but within seconds the real pain started.
I got through a fair bit of morphine prior to surgery to fix me!

Medicaltextbook · 05/01/2018 19:51

The couple of days after brain surgery were horrendous. They said they needed to keep a close track on my consciousness so strongest I got was paracetamol.
(I think the procedures may have changed since then for some brain surgery to allow morphine.)

Can't compare to labour as have no DC.

UAEMum · 05/01/2018 19:54

A terrible ear infection which lasted about 2 weeks. The ENT dr wanted to admit me to give me morphine. I refused as we had just moved country and have 4 kids. Bad decision!

Unicorn81 · 05/01/2018 19:57

Broken tailbone and migraine pain so bad i want to smash my head against the wall to knock me out

RadioDorothy · 05/01/2018 19:59

Oh yes I forgot the manual vacuum aspiration without sedation. I think I blocked that one out.

Flomper · 05/01/2018 19:59

2nd labour, ear infection and burst eardrum, 1st labour, migraine, third labour, all 3 childbirths, in that order.

RadioDorothy · 05/01/2018 20:00

And yes, I've had a few migraines where I've begged DH to kill me.

I've seen DH laying down and banging his head on the floor with a tooth abscess.

willothewisp17 · 05/01/2018 20:00

vomiting violently once my spinal from c section wore off, every heave felt like I was being torn in two. that and the first night home from hospital, trying to lower myself down onto my very low best. I wailed and moaned a lot that night.

ingrown toenails. thought that was bad enough then they became infected. eventually got them both removed.

MollyBloomYes · 05/01/2018 20:03

I had a pleurectomy (operation on lung where they cut away the top part of it to make the scar tissue knit back together to chest, stops it collapsing spontaneously which it had a nasty habit of doing). Had an epidural before the operation to ensure pain relief on waking. Which would have been fine if the epidural hadn't fallen out shortly after. I couldn't breathe properly, completely horrendous.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 05/01/2018 20:05

Separation of sacroiliac joints in the pelvis. I thought I had experienced pain prior to this unlovely occurrence but.....no.

BuzzKillington · 05/01/2018 20:10

The only bad pain I have ever experienced is labour, but I didn't have any drugs so it can't have been unbearable and toothache which was horrendous.

I have badly dislocated my knee twice, but bizarrely, that didn't hurt at all.

FluffyFerrets · 05/01/2018 20:15

Biliary Colic from Gallstones
I second that. Mine is after surgery to remove bastarding Gallstones and Gallbladder.
I've had many ops, given birth to 3 huge dc, got a long standing spine issue, had dental traumas, broken bones etc.. but this beats them all for me. I honestly would not wish it on my worst enemy.
