Bloated & feeling unwell in a virally way

Last few days I seem to be off my food and have found when I do eat I feel really full/Bloated having only eaten a small meal. I am bloated higher up than I would normally be having eaten, centrally just below ribcage which is quite uncomfortable as if I have been vaguely winded if that makes sense. Tried indigestion tabs but make no difference. Anyone else have this? Feel a bit off in a virusy way plus seem to have insomnia the last couple of nights

Sounds like a stomach acid type thing. Have you tried over the counter omeprazole? Or Gaviscon three times a day. It'll be worse at night that's why you might be awake. Your stomach may feel full after eating very little, then hurt again lower down when its empty.
These things often happen around Christmas as we are eating more desserts etc late at night and drinking more alcohol! If it continues, go to the GP they will advise you.

I had this just before Christmas, not a proper bug, but some vague symptoms as you describe. It lasted almost two weeks

Thanks for responses

I had something like this last year. Fatigue, fuzzyheadedness and a weird bloated feeling. Lasted about six weeks for me! I put it down to a virus.

ohhereweareagain · 03/01/2018 14:45

ah tlentifini yes, me too. i'd much rather think it is some kind of weird viral thing than what i stupidly read about on the net' last night.... i feel same as you plus really off my food and if i eat i feel full really quickly. i'm not good at being unwell as my mind starts to worry about what something might be instead of being pleased i am off my food so it'll be easier to lose weight Smile. usually if i get bloated it is in either the womens area of in the middle so it is weird that it feels hard/bloated towards the top just under my ribcage (area where you would be winded if punched). it doesn't hurt so am grateful for that plus i've been going to the loo as normal. my lower back vaguely aches a bit

Yes, a weird full feeling right at the top of the stomach describes it exactly. also a sense of pressure in my head. Yuck.

In the end I went to the GP and had all kinds of tests. All that was found was a very slight iron deficiency, which I think was unconnected. It was worth going for the reassurance.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks. I'll probably make an appointment next week but hate going to Drs so will leave it for now. I HATE having tests done as waiting for results stresses me out as I have a good idea what they'll be testing for, a few of the things. Did you lose your appetite and get really full quickly from eating a small amount?

I didn't lose my appetite as such - but could only eat small meals before getting quite uncomfortable. But never felt sick or had any pain.

spidereye · 06/01/2018 00:26

Mine's come back, I am now convinced I have some kind of liver damage. Hoping it's just a weird bug

ohhereweareagain · 06/01/2018 18:37

hi spide sorry to hear that yours is back. i have clear feelings of generally not feeling well in a 'viral' way that have only slowly crept in (very odd feeling weak/lethargic/spaced out) as well as being off food (although with mild moments of vague hunger) accompanied with bloating and being full up quickly. i went to dr the other day who had a quick prod around my tummy area & thought it 'seemed fine'. she sent me for a blood test. am hoping it is one of those weird viral illnesses that doesn't have a name. are you off food/getting full very quickly & bloating uncomfortably when you do eat?
