Its my appointment tomorrow and I am becoming more and more nervous. I really want to have it done just to see what its like but am scared of something going wrong and having to wear sunglasses for the next 4 months.

Spoke to one of my (medical) lecturers today who bandied on about there having been no randomised clinical trials

Oh I dont know what to do, if I dont go I will wish I had but just want it to be ok

Enid · 24/04/2007 17:42

pph i totally agree with you but its no more life threatening than to buy a pair of crocs or not, this is mumsnet and I can ask these silly questions on here

I just really don't think it justifies FIVE exclamation marks, that is my main objection

don't do it.

why would you if you are so worried about it.

mosschops30 · 24/04/2007 17:47

i wasnt counting and i am REALLY scared

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 24/04/2007 17:47

I'd hate to have a frozen face..do you look really awful then?????

Whoooosh · 24/04/2007 17:48

Had it done two weeks ago and am delighted-go for it-the risks are minimal.

I was always told that best results, and less risk is associated with areas above the eyes.

Good luck.

PrincessPeaHead · 24/04/2007 17:48

meg thats because if someone were to say "I had botox and i really regretted it" that would make them sound even more of a plum than if they'd just said "I've had botox"

the effects are indiscernible to practically everyone really, good botox is only noticed by the person it has been done to (real case of emperors new clothes) or if they are discernible then you look fake and scary and people laugh at you

anyway what's the point?

mosschops30 · 24/04/2007 17:48

sophable because I just want to try it, like you want to try a new ride at Alton Towers but are scared you might have a heart attack half way round - that type of scared.

meggle, if I do I will let you know how it goes

i know its been used in medicine for years to help people with contractures and tension headaches

PrincessPeaHead · 24/04/2007 17:49

well that is SUCH a dumb reason i'm afraid I just have to repeat my first statement

so don't go
or do
who cares

parp!

mosschops30 · 24/04/2007 17:50

Whoooosh , tell me more? Where did you have it done (as in what area, face?) did it hurt, how long did any bruising or redness last?

I am having my forehead done

OP posts:
Blu · 24/04/2007 17:50

Yes, having a toxic substance used to paralyse muscles in my face would worry me too.
So I sympathise.

zippitippitoes · 24/04/2007 17:51

isn't it another thing that you have to keep having done?

I just think sucker tbh

Heathcliffscathy · 24/04/2007 17:51

you 'just want to try' botox???

is your forehead like a drying out piece of leather or are you utterly mad?

mosschops30 · 24/04/2007 17:51

oh please dont be nasty, I know its a shallow thread but I'm not trying to pretend its ruining my whole life, I'm just a bit nervous, which is understandable.

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 24/04/2007 17:51

THEN DON'T DO IT!

Whoooosh · 24/04/2007 17:53

Didn't hurt.
No redness
No bruising.
Had forehead done and as PPH says-is really only discernible to me.
Had fillers some weeks before too and ever since I have been told how "well" I look.

So,maybe I am dumb to want to make myself feel and look better(after a really shitty time) but I am blardy glad I had it done and if I can afford to keep it up I will.
If not-well at least I had a few months of looking "well".

Blu · 24/04/2007 17:53

Well I would be bloody nervous! And I'd have to be sufferng from something a damn sight more serious than bruised vanity to pay to get it done, for that very reason!

Injections round your eyes?

No thanks!

beckybrastraps · 24/04/2007 17:54

Sweaty armpits too I understand...

zippitippitoes · 24/04/2007 17:54

every few months...sounds mad to me

is it normal to have this done?

mosschops30 · 24/04/2007 17:54

zippi no you dont, your face returns to normal as it wears off, the muscle thins out eventually and you need it less, also if you have it for frown lines, you get out of the habit of frowning because you cant therefore lessening your need of botox

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 24/04/2007 17:56

but that is waht I meant you have a psychological need for it presumably..like people who habve to wear make up
