Its my appointment tomorrow and I am becoming more and more nervous. I really want to have it done just to see what its like but am scared of something going wrong and having to wear sunglasses for the next 4 months.

Spoke to one of my (medical) lecturers today who bandied on about there having been no randomised clinical trials

Oh I dont know what to do, if I dont go I will wish I had but just want it to be ok

1200 a year

and it's a poison too..yuk

zippitippitoes · 24/04/2007 18:16

and it takes 10 minutes..why is it so expensive?

goingfor3 · 24/04/2007 18:16

I know someone who had it done because she had a lazy eye. One time it went wrong and one side of her face was noticabley droopy, it looked like she had a stroke. She had a medical reason for having it done and I really sympithise with her. f it goes wrong for someone having it for purley cosmetic reasons I feel no sympathy.

madoldcatlady · 24/04/2007 18:19

I know someone who's husband does does botox (he's a dentist). She's the worst possible example of it. She's just lost all her expression. Her face looks dead when she talks. I don't know if he used her to practice on or if she's got hooked but she looks plain awful.

beckybrastraps · 24/04/2007 18:19

Really?

I'd have sympathy for someone who was concerned enough about her looks to go through that only to end up looking worse. Must be dreadful.

That's quite a mean comment IMO.

Whoooosh · 24/04/2007 18:20

IDreamOfDaleks-depends what your "problem" is as to which is better.

If done well botox will not cost £1200 a year-they reckon you will need a top up-if you so choose-every 6-9 months.

Whoooosh · 24/04/2007 18:22

Moadoldcatlady-it is like anything I guess-one can over-do it.

Too much make-up
Too short skirts.......

madoldcatlady · 24/04/2007 18:26

I don't have a problem with it at all, in theory. In fact I'd love to get rid of my angry looking furrows. But if a man who's medically trained, managed to make such a mess of his own wifes face, I think you must be 100% confident that the person doing it is very well trained.

Whoooosh · 24/04/2007 18:27

Absolutely!
I went to someone who came highly recommended-doesn't advertise and have been delighted. As in all professione there are "bad 'uns"

I think it looks great

for the first couple of goes

then after that you get 'botox face' (a fact seconded by consultant BIL who does loads of cosmetic surgery ops)

I suspect I wll have it only once ayear-have no wish for a "botox face".

hk78 · 12/07/2007 14:43

so mosschops30

did you have your botox done?

and what's the result?

i 'm seriously considering it

i was going to start a new thread asking opinions but found this one instead

i've got one deep vertical frown line that makes me not like loooking in the mirror, it reminds me of horrible times in my life iyswim

(i've got other wrinkles but i'm ok with them cos they are more like laughter lines)

(although to quote george melly "nothing's that funny")

is it worth it?

how much does it cost?

would you have it again?

do you think i could pretend i haven't had it, and just say i've been using protect&perfect?

i'd love to hear experiences

Why the hell would anyone ever want botox? Don't do it. It does show. And it looks desperate. What is wrong with looking good for your age? It's got to be better than looking crap for someone else's age. Eat well, enjoy life and stop worrying about lines on your face that no one else can see.
