Cerazette/Zelleta not agreeing with me any more?

I was put on Cerazette after DD1. Best hormonal contraceptive I have ever had - no periods, no mood swings, no other side effects. Came off to have DD2 with no problems.

After DD2 GP gave me Zelleta, apparently exactly the same as Cerazette. Except it isn't having the same effect any more :( awful awful mood swings, no consistent cycle to speak of - constant spotting with the occasional day of 'proper' bleeding, other hormonal side effects like sore breasts, food cravings, pain in my side that I would usually associate with ovulation.

Nothing has changed with me since DD1 except I have lost a stone or so. Is it possible that Cerazette/Zelleta just doesn't agree with me any more? It was so wonderful after DD1

GP wants me to have Mirena. Opinions are so polarised - some people love it, others have a nightmare - and I know the only way to tell if it will work for you is to try it, but I can't face the side effects if it doesn't agree with me. At the moment I am thinking to go back onto the combined pill - Marvelon suited me OK pre-DD1 - just so I have some certainty and a cycle again, not constant PMT/spotting.

Hi, I've been on Cerazette for years and it really suits me too for all the reasons you said. Recently I got changed to another mini pill ( can't remember the name) that was meant to be exactly the same but a different brand and had exactly the experience you're having, mood swings, spotting etc. Go back to the doctors and ask to be put back on Cerazette. My gp said she had lots of women saying the same thing. The replacement is cheaper, that's why they are trying to change people over but it is definitely not the same as Cerazette.

That's really interesting. Did changing back work for you?

Yes it did, I felt better within days of switching back to Cerazette. I only took the new ones for about a week though as knew something wasn't right.
