Excema and . . . gloss paint??

Ds2 woke screaming last night at 10pm. His trunk - front and back - was coming up in penny sized blisters and the rest of his skin was red and angry. I smothered him in Sudocrem (my favourite remedy for excema outbreaks - even better than hydrocortesone for getting the aggressive attacks down) and it went down and went away in half an hour, leaving ds2 asleep, and dh and I shaking like leaves!

The only thing that we can think of is that we had been doing some glossing, in another room, and there were some fumes around. Nothing else has changed. Anyone experienced anything like this, or have any thoughts?

Gloss paint is nasty stuff, I wouldn't rule it out. Glad he got over it so quickly.
