Have you ever had a facial and what kind was it and do they get rid of the blackheads and unblock pores or do they just mess about with expensive gloop and charge a fortune?

oh, and what about those ones where they strip a whole layer off your face and it takes years off you?

There are so many different types of facials you can have. different salons use different equiptment and products, but a basic facial would be -

  • remove any make up
  • scrub
  • hot towels / steam
  • blackhead extractions
  • massage
  • mask
  • tone
  • moisterise
  • a little bit of make up

HTH, I am a quallified beauty therapist but I dont work in a salon anymore.

how do they remove the blackheads?

A good squeeze, but after steaming etc so they should just pop out. Allegedly.

I personally don't love facials much (not that I've had one for ages) but if you find someone good they can be really nice. Must say that I had a truly wonderful one once, felt all drugged and floaty, and then she appeared 2 inches from my face and started to sell me stuff. Would always go for a massage since, as they seem less likely to get at you after those.

oh, dont want to be squeezed or hard sell either... will have to re-think it...

I've had a few facials but they've never included blackhead removal. Maybe it's just certain types of facial.

If you dont wnat it doing then just tell them, they wont mind. they know everyone is different.
There are so many differnt products and machines that aid a facial it would be best if you gave your loacal salon a call and they would be able to help you further.
most offer a free consultation, so you might want to pop in and have a chat with someone.
