Has anyone had surgery for a sliding hiatus hernia?

I’ve suffered from heartburn from quite a young age, I remember the burn in my throat at about 7.

Anyway now at 30, and four raging heartburn pregnancies later my symptoms are worse with bringing up my food back out my stomach.

I was referred for an endoscope appointment which I had today, the doctor has said I have a sliding hiatus hernia and I have to decide what I do next.

Keep taking the omeprazole which stops the acid completely but not the food repeating back up, or surgery to fix it.

He said I am an ideal candidate for surgery but I have to make the choice. I don’t know what to do!!

If you were in my position, what would or did you do?

Did he explain the surgery?

He said it would be keyhole surgery where they would go into the stomach and tighten the area around the spincter( sorry don’t know how to spell it)

He also said there would be a few more tests needed to be carried out too, like a tube down the nose for 24 hours to test acid levels in the stomach
