Pulses of pain in arms and legs??

Hello helpful health detectives,

Hope someone can help - I'm getting really worried.

For the last few months I've been experiencing random pulses of pain in my thighs and forearms - I'm not sure if it's the bone or the muscle, but it feels quite deep down.

Usually it's a random pulse of pain that quickly goes, although the pain once throbbed in my left thigh for three days straight - it seemed to be in time with my pulse. It disappeared after I used a cold pack, but that could have been a coincidence.

I did go to the doctor about 6 weeks ago, but he said it was probably because I'd just had a virus. But it started a while before that and is still happening several weeks after the virus cleared up. I'll go back again, but can't get an appointment until the new year.

It's so odd - anyone else ever experienced anything like it??

I'm suffering with this flu type virus at the moment and I have this symptom but mostly in my hands and feet. It definitely started when the virus started but hasn't gone away yet although the virus is improving. It's like fleeting cramps in my hands and feet that are there for less than a minute then gone. They keep coming in different places.

Do you suffer from anxiety at all? When my anxiety first flared up really badly, about five years ago, this is how it manifested, random flashes of pain around my body. The gp tried reassuring me and did blood tests which showed everything was normal, but the pains persisted. They stopped once I started taking anti anxiety meds.

I have really bad anxiety that manifests itself in many physical ways so for me this is entirely possible. I tried Sertraline for mine but it made me really ill. I'm thinking of going on fluoxetine which has helped me in the past.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I do suffer from anxiety and I am going through a particularly stressful time at the moment, so perhaps that is related. But obviously my anxiety is telling me it's bone cancer or something equally dreadful Wink

You sound like me Fiere, I'm constantly convinced there's something awful wrong with me at the moment, I jump from one fear to another, sometimes within the same day! I hope you manage to have a relaxing Christmas x
