Anyone want to join me in getting motivated to go to the Gym?

I really struggle at keeping myself motivated and get very easily sidetracked.
The ebay/debt free threads do quite a good job on me so anyone want to join me on a Gym one?????

Can I join you please? Have gym induction booked tomorow morning at 7.30, have never been to a gym before so feeling a bit nervous. Went swimming yesterday and this morning at 7am, plan to swim or gym (if I can do it!) 3/4 times a week at 7am.

MrsWho · 01/05/2007 21:22

Hi PandaG, its the embarressment factor that works forme, if I come on here and admit I haven't been for ages!

well, I'll come on tomorrow and let you know how the gym induction goes! Thanks!

fireflyfairy2 · 01/05/2007 21:34

I have started walking/jogging down the hills, 3 miles every morning.

I go to sw on wed nights so I start my exercise week on a Thursday.

This week I managed:

Thur: 40 minute walk/jog & an hour in the gym plus another 30 minute weights/sit-ups.
Fri: 40 minute walk/jog
Sat: same
Sun: same
Mon: Same
Today@ 40 minute walk/jog and 45 minutes spin cycle

Hoping to be able to keep up the walking even when the weather turns bad again, will just buy myself a rain coat

MrsWho · 01/05/2007 21:41

You have put me to shame FFF2

The spin cycle class near killed me. I am sat here with legs like weights!

Anyway, my sister is a nutter. She jogs every day. She jogged 6 miles today in a shorter time than it took me to walk 3 miles! And she was the spin cycle class instructor! She's like my very own [free!] personal trainer

MrsWho · 01/05/2007 21:45

Yeah thats what I need, someone to shout at me!

Well I made it to the gym induction. I have a straightforward basic plan - 4 cardio machines and then 3 resistance. I did it [surprised emoticon]. I found the float where your feet push out sideways really hard, but surprised myself as I love the weights! Was a bit disheartening to have the computer tell me I had only burned about 250 cals though, but I did jog there and walk back too. Am wondering if I wil be able to walk at all tomorrow!

WanderingTrolley · 02/05/2007 10:48

What is this "Gym" of which you speak?

[utterly confused emoticon]

This thread has frightened me quite badly.

fireflyfairy2 · 02/05/2007 10:56

Have any of you tried spin classes?

I have been going for a few weeks now & the first one half killed me! Last night she introduced dumbells as we were stretching & today I really feel the back of my neck & arms sore from them!

Have completed my 3 mile walk this morning. We went the uphill route & still made it in just under 40 minutes

Glad the gym went well PandaG

PandaG · 02/05/2007 10:59

THanks FF

no, not done spin, don't even know what it is! Have in the past done aerobics and step (easy class!), and more recently PIlates which I loved but had to give up as it clashed with DS's Beavers. Hence the 7am swim and gym - DH is still at home with the DC, and breakfast membership is only £45 for 3 months, with 25% off swimming lessons for the DC too.

MrsWho · 02/05/2007 21:18

I don't really know what spin is either really

I went to the balance class and riding today.

Have PE at work tomorrow so should do some exercise then and possibly aquarobics if I can get a baby sitter.

Feeling really achey today, so didn't make it this morning. Probably not surprising as I have never done it before. Oh well, will walk briskly on school run!

fireflyfairy2 · 03/05/2007 11:05

I missed my walk this morning too

I will go to the gym tonight though. I am trying to finish this damn psychology essay.

MrsWho · 03/05/2007 20:05

I've found I feel better if I go even when I am aching as it wears off quicker

OP posts:
fireflyfairy2 · 03/05/2007 21:27

I am just back from the gym now. [essay still not done]

What way do you lot go round the gym? The one I go to is just a small local one & tonight there was no-one else in there.

I did:

15 mins on the bike, on a middle course.

10 minutes fat burning on the cross trainer.

15 minutes on the rowing machine.

100 wee bounces pulling my bum cheeks in on the big bouncy ball thingy.

20 mins of walking/slow jogging on the running machine.

Then a few core stability exercises, just a few mind you as I was bloody knackered!!

I don't do weights or anything as I don't enjoy them, should I still do them though?

MrsWho · 03/05/2007 21:41

I just do bike/treadmill/exercises.

Can't do crosstrainer or step thingy and don't like weights.
