Do you have any antibiotics in the house? Start taking them NOW!!! In fact take 2 to start, I always keep a packet of them in the house - in case of toothache. MIL gets them from Spain - you do not need a perscription for them there!! Life saver!!

i have half a course, started taking them before for abcess and when the pain eased i stopped taking them, so that i have some for if it got bad again IYKWIM, as I argued with the doctor to give anti-biotics for a tooth abcess. Am absolutely dreading having the work done but at the same time i'm looking forward to it cos i'm so fed up of the pain.

You should never stop taking antibiotics halfway through a course...that just gives the bugs time to build up a resistance to the ABs and then come back with a vengeance and are harder to treat then. Could the dentist fit you in any earlier?
