Suicidal thoughts....Do they ever go away.

Havent had any since christmas, but i have just seriously lost it. I wont go into details but I really need to know if they ever go away, have been on AD and they dont seem to help.

Think everything that has happened recently has just pushed me over the edge and i fell like i really dont want to go on.

Please ,Please call samaritains or anyone else who could come and be with you. You can climb back up again. I don't know where you are, or what has happened to you, but life is precious. Is there anyone you can call? wish I could think of something more helpful to say. Hope someone else will be along in a minute.

helbel3 · 22/04/2007 18:04

oh ww, obvioulsy i dont know the run up of events which has led you to ad, and what has made you lose it today. But perhaps you need to revisit the gp to look at your medication, look at the things that caused you to loose it today and have a good chat to those who are closest to you.

Perhapas if you can identify the triggers which make you feel worse you can avoid them, if avoidance is not possible those closest to you can be there to hold your hand when the going gets tough.

Also look at all the wonderful things you do and all the positive things in your life

wurlywurly, so sorry that you are feeling so down. Please please take the ladies' advice and call someone for help.

princessCROComel · 22/04/2007 18:19

wurly wurly, I think you are near me. Very near actually. We've spoken about coincidences on threads awhile back.

Do you want me to come and see you? You could cat me?

I don't know of your situation but I could listen.

loobylooby · 22/04/2007 18:28

Hi Wurly

I work in mental health and I would ask that you please think of doing the following following things - tonight if you are feeling suicidal: -

  1. Calling local mental health crisis team if you know how to contact them
  2. Attending A&E and ask to see duty psychiatrist

Also revisit your GP asap - if the ADs aren't working then you may need a change and also there are other routes such as psychotherapy. if your GP isn't any good, see someone else in the practice or change GPs if possible - it should be the bread and butter of a GPS work and they have no excuse not to try and be helpful. Suicidal feelings do go away but unfortunately they can also at times come back and it is a matter of hanging on in there and seeking support when you do feel terrible to get you through to a time when things feel better. It is also worth remembering that depression is extremely common ("common cold of psychiatry") and is nothing to be ashamed of.

Please do do something because things will get better, I am sure of it.

Best wishes
