This is my very first post on Mumsnet !
Wondering if anyone has had this kind of thing... Thanks... Sorry for such an long post.
Summary:
3 weeks ago I had vaginal surgery to remove growing scar tissue that was obstructing the entrance (causing painful sex). I got soluble stiches due to dissolve 2 weeks later, and was told I could resume intercourse after 2 weeks. I didn’t feel ready and so had sex again only after 3 weeks. Then, shock: I’m even tighter than before and sex even more painful. Husband can’t even go totally through, only a small way, and with much effort. He says I should remain optimistic as it’s only the beginning and this part may need progressive stretching and use over time to be what it can be.
Question:
Anyone has recovered well from snipped-off vaginal scar tissue later, after more weeks, while not at first after only 3 weeks?
Could it still be too early to tell? Any hope? Or is it to stay like this?
Optional: More details for those interested:
- I’m 55. The problem of my vagina progressively closing down and sex becoming less comfy started about 4 or 5 years ago: a ring of tight, smooth skin had formed inside, near the entrance.
- This scar tissue is believed to be a result from giving birth when I was 30 (in another country), where the stitching was badly done & hygiene neglected.
For at least 20 years after that I was absolutely fine, with no sign of scar tissue, I always enjoyed a great sex life and I love my husband to bits – if anything, libido even increased in my early 40s.
- All doctors (of quite a few consulted) were clueless at this “hymenal ring” (as my surgeon called it), unable to say or do anything about it, until one put me on Gynest cream (about 2 years ago), which may have helped a bit, at least as a deep-inside lubricant, and I’m now resuming its use which I had interrupted. Also using pure coconut oil.
- Resuming intercourse 3 weeks after the operation was this last weekend: Saturday 9th and then again Sunday (maybe a little easier on the 2nd day but also sorer by then; I had to stop midways).
Questions I’m asking myself:
- It’s known that scar tissue has a tendency to grow back and is very hard to eliminate lastingly. Could it have grown back already?
(The op itself seems to have gone very well and the skin is healed, no infection...).
- Could the ‘soluble stiches’ not ALL be gone yet after all?
I may end up calling the gynaecologist-surgeon who operated me at the hospital, but am reluctant to abuse her time as I already called her a week after the op with another concern.
