Period ended a few days ago and now I'm suddenly bleeding heavily with clots

This has never happened before. It's like bright red blood with clots. I'm soaking through loads of pads. Usually I have very light periods.

I'm going to see my GP but I have quite bad health anxiety (I'm autistic). I'm worried it's something really bad. I'm 37 btw.

Have you taken any other medication recently that could have this as a side effect? E.g. I sometimes have to take Prednisolone for asthma, and this really mucks up my period (makes them long, heavy, and cycles short),

lottieandmia22 · 14/12/2017 00:09

No, no new medication at all.

I would recommend you call 111. I think the rule of thumb is blweding through a pad in less than an hour is a call.

lottieandmia22 · 14/12/2017 00:13

Well I'd say I'm having to change a pad every 2 hours...

I would call as you are worried

It seems to be easing a bit but I feel very drained so going to the GP. Literally never had anything like it.

Any sudden change in your periods should be checked out by a GP but loads of women have much heavier bleeding than you're describing and it's nothing serious so hopefully yours will be nothing serous as well.
