Wonder if anyone can help at all?

The doctor has advised that I come off Yasmin as I keep getting really bad headaches.

I have been on yasmin for almost 10 years now with no side effects and it has worked wonder for my acne but only recently started getting a lot of headaches so they have advised that I come off Yasmin and go to an alternative.

Can anyone recommend an alternative contraceptive pill that can help with acne?

Also I have read that when people come off yasmin they get really bad acne, is this a thing? id so i am dreading coming off it, used to get really painful cystic acne1

Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed Smile

Dianette, but tbh they are unlikely to prescribe that.

Spironolactone is not a contraceptive but it has a similar androgen blocking effect to Dianette and Yasmin and can help with hormonal acne - so I'd suggest asking about that.

In terms of contraception, if you can't get Yasmin or Dianette I would avoid hormonal contraception altogether as the others have a different hormone combo and tend to make hormonal acne worse (according to my dermatologist). In particular avoid the mirena coil and mini pill.

PS you might want to report your own post and ask for it to be moved to style & beauty or health - Conception probably isn't the best place to ask about the pill Grin

Hiya thanks for your reply! yes it seems so strange that it's suddenly started not suiting me, I'm guessing it's just a change in hormones as i'm getting older.

Defo going to ask about Spironolactone! I have tried all sorts of tetr-cyclines and accuctane and yasmin after this seemed to be the only thing that would treat it.

Yes this is the predicament as I've tried the mini pill and it made my acne really bad, I've heard someone say that this is just temporary though whilst you adjust is that true?

Does the implant have the same hormone in as the coil?

I think the implant has the same issue yes.

Do you have PCOS do you know?

I was on yasmin for ages (for contraception as well as acne) but doc took me off. Had to go on mini pill feanolla, for the 1st month or 2 my skin was constantly oily and spotty but it settled and was clear since. Another plus was that I jad no bleeds on it either. Ive changed to nexplanon implant now as its pretty much the same hormone and 2 months in, skin still clear and no bleeds.
