I've got an under active thyroid
But for the last day n a half I've had this pain in my thyroid gland on the top left hand of it
It's a sharp really painful pain. It's getting worse as time goes on
My jaw is hurting n slight ache in my left ear too
I don't have a sword throat
I don't have a cold
I have a slight cough

It also hurts when I move my tongue n my head

Spreading up my face

But it 12:45 am my kids r in bed my wife is up at 6am for work

In a scale of pain 1-10 I'm at a 7 now

I'm worried it's something sinister

Anyone shed any light or experiences

Many thanks in advance x

sorry to hear you're in pain OP - I think I'd ring 111 at least...

Butterymuffin · 29/11/2017 01:26

No idea about thyroid problems but have you tried painkillers and are they making any difference? Can you stick it out till morning and go to A&E then?

Traffig · 29/11/2017 01:27

Agree ring 111, that sounds worrying but 111 will advise.

Chapman198 · 29/11/2017 01:28

Yeah nothing is making any difference at the moment 😢

I always feel like I'm making a fuss tho
Can't find anything useful on the net

I'd call 111 at the least

Traffig · 29/11/2017 01:38

Ring 111 and let them decide. Don't search the net. Talk to someone.
Hope things work out ok.

Chapman198 · 29/11/2017 01:40

Only problem with 111 is they make you go to hospital
They don't just allow you to talk to anyone

Put an ice pack on the area for 20 mins and then nothing for 20 mins, then a hot compress for 20 mins and then nothing for 20 mins. Keep alternating until you can sleep. Also, take ibuprofen and paracetomol alternating (google for dosage) and then go to an urgent care in the morning. Its probably nothing to do with your thyroid, but something that painful should get checked out.

scoobdoob · 29/11/2017 01:44

What have you taken?
Try 111 at least and see what they say.
If they say hospital at least you have an answer instead of shall i/shall I not.

If it is worrying you this much ring.

Chapman198 · 29/11/2017 01:47

Thank you

I'll ring 111 see what they say

That's good. At least you have an answer from a professional now.
See how it is in the morning.
Nights are always worst!

Traffig · 29/11/2017 18:35

Hope you managed to see the GP Chapman and things are as bit easier now.
