Two years ago, I had an acute kidney infection and was admitted to hospital for 5 days for intravenous antibiotics. I also had another infection last year which was treated with antibiotics at home. Main symptoms were fever, feeling nauseous, vomiting, chills, and lower back pain.
I've had pain in my flank for about a week or so, but through it could just be lower back pain. On Saturday evening, I made a bacon sandwich and immediately started feeling sick. Barely slept and threw up all morning.
Two days later and I'm still feeling sick, have got chills, and the pain in my back is still there. I don't think I've got a high fever but can't seem to get to a comfortable temperature. Given my history, I'm concerned it's a kidney infection, but as it was straight after the bacon (or could have been something else I've eaten) I don't know if it's food poisoning or just a bug.
I was feeling too rough to get to the doctors today but I'm worried. Reluctant to ring 111 though as every time I have they have sent an ambulance which wasn't necessary. I'm a student, live on my own but have got friends who could take me wherever in a cab.
Sorry for my very long post - what would you do? Thanks in advance.
