Cramps from right hand side of stomach shooting up to my chest! What could be causing this?

I had a sickness bug last week and I’ve now come down with a very chesty cough so not sure if it could be linked to that?

I’ve been doubled over with these excruciating pains that go from the right of my tummy and shoot up to the right hand side of my chest. It only lasts a moment.

Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what could be causing it?

I’m wondering if it could just be trapped wind?

That's the area that hurts when you have gallstones I'm afraid.

Is that the only thing it could be? Is it unlikely to be caused by the sickness bug/chest infection?

If you’ve had a sickness bug it’s more likely to be a left over of that, indigestion ie gas. Gallstones and or gallbladder infection pain is more under your ribs than stomach. I’ve had two babies with no pain relief whatsoever (accidental mind, not because I’m hard or a martyr) and I do not exaggerate when I say my gallbladder infection and passing a stone was by far the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. So if you think you’re at that level of pain, maybe gallbladder though of course everyone experiences things differently. The important thing is if you’re at all worried, see your gp.

I have gallstones with regular attacks and the pain shoots up the right side of my chest as well as between my shoulder blades at the back.

Go and see your Gp for reassurance. It might just be some muscle strain caused by coughing or being sick.
