it's not loose enough to fall out. Just me panicking. Some children in reception are already losing teeth! I googles and it said consult dentist. dh says leave it and it'll settle dow - fall out early i think!

there must be a dentist on here somewhere!

DD did this when she was 3.
I took her to the dentist and was told that

if the tooth discolours and remains loose she will have to have the tooth removed.

If it sets again and is discoloured, the nerve was damaged but its not a problem.

Ok

  1. is it an adult or baby tooth?
  2. If it is a baby tooth - very little to worry about, even if it was forced upwards it won't damage the adult tooth as it is almost fully formed. Just have a soft diet (scrambled eggs and the like for a few days and calpol if tender. It may never firm up and may discolour but it will soon drop out anyway.
  3. if it is an adult tooth, again soft diet and calpol and keep area clean gentle brushing and rinsing (same goes for if it is a baby tooth). Take him to see the dentis as a blow can kill the nerve in the tooth, can happen very slowly over months or years. Signs to look for are increased sensitivity to cold, pain, discolouration of the tooth or a swelling on the gum above the tooth. If this occurs the tooth will need root canal treatment. (unlikely). Hi, thanks. It's a baby top front tooth. ds is just 5. it bled at the time. It looks like fell down, it's lower than the next one to it.

only a teeny bit lower - in case you are imagining it hanging down!! told him not to suck thumb, so it may do me a favour by stopping that!
