Tender boobs - not the obvious.

Have noticed the old boobs being tender last week or so. Not preggers (done test and just had af) and not due on. Anyone else get random tender boobs or know a reason why?

Thanks in advance.

good god, just came on here to post similar query!!

Mine have quite suddenly started to become very tender when I ovulate and then stay that way until AF arrives...what's going on? Is it hormonal? Why all of a sudden after years and years? Dear God, am I menopausal

southeastastra · 18/04/2007 17:47

how old are you all? i'm 37 and seem to have this alot lately

filthymindedvixen · 18/04/2007 17:48

37 next month SA...>

3littlefrogs · 18/04/2007 17:53

This is a serious question - not trying to be funny, but does your bra fit ok?

southeastastra · 18/04/2007 17:54

could be hormonal i suppose and age!

don't think it's anything menopausal

seb1 · 18/04/2007 17:56

I have been like this for over a year, I am 38, doctor said it was hormonal and I have just changed my pill to see if that will help

filthymindedvixen · 18/04/2007 18:04

i am very modestly-norked, it's not my bra..

And I'm not on the pill or any hormone changing contraception

I did wonder about impending menopause. Am 39. And it does seem to be around ovulation, but never had this before. Also, new bra, so lots of things in the equation. Odd tho.

i've got the non hormonal coil (had it 3 years) but this has been recent (ish) hope it does sort itself out!

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 09:13

SEA and Niceglasses - apparently we need to be popping evening primrose oil and b vitamins....the general consensus seems to be if you go to your gp, they will tell you it's hormonal..or contraceptive-related.

I just want to know why after all these years it's started.

I've suffered with this for years - whether on the pill or off it. It's got worse with age and causes me to go to the docs sometimes with the lumps.

The last mammogram and ultrasound showed lots of harmless cysts which probably don't help.

These last couple of weeks have been the worst ever. So uncomfortable I can't accept hugs properly. It almost feels like when you breast feed and you're about to burst - do you know what I mean.

I hate them, I really do. I've tried the b vits, evening primrose and nothing works.

If anyone has a miracle cure I'm all ears!!

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 09:31

god yes. What's making it worse is that they look bigger and slightly swollen, prompting dh's interest..and then I'm yelping and flooring him with reflex-driven left hook

southeastastra · 20/04/2007 09:43

well it's worth trying evening primrose oil and b vitamins. pmt really bad too

emmatomATO · 25/04/2007 15:00

This affects me so badly that I had another appointment at the breast clinic today.

My boobs are full of cysts and are so painful that they have put me on a course of tamoxifen - the drug given to women who actually have breast cancer - in an attempt to help.

I was also advised to take evening primrose oil and it had to be 3 of the 500mg pills twice a day for 6 months, and then you can cut down a bit.

So, lets see if this helps.

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/04/2007 21:46

Can definitely recommend Evening Primrose Oil - but you have to keep taking it and stick with it.

Hadn't heard about Vitamin B, but I have taken Berocca (a general Vit B supplement) at the same time as the EPO, so it could also have been that.

lilolady · 03/05/2007 21:59

did you happen to get some pain under your armspit? I am same age as you and boobs have been a bit tender but pain in arm pit started aound day I ovulated and is still here nearly a week later.
