It is our first time since he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. His Dr wasn't totally happy with his last chest x-ray so has phoned me up this afternoon out the blue to say DS will be expected at the childrens ward tomorrow to start a 2 week course of i.v atibiotics.

This has totally blown us away, we knew it would happen but it's hard now it actually is, especially since he seem's healthier that he has ever been but i guess the specialist knows best.

He is 2.7 and wil be confined to his side room for the 14 days.

Has anyone got any tips on making this whole thing easier on all of us?
I will also have our 6 month old DS with me all the time.

Also wanted to let everyone know especially the Nov 06' postnatal girls know i will be away for the 2 weeks so i wont be posting. xxx

Just had a thought - have you got a leappad??? If not, then you can have mine as the 3 year old has moved on from that now....will have to dig out the cartridges etc but DS1 LOVED that at the same age....

Debbsyandson · 17/04/2007 22:23

Oh Charlee just seen this huge hugs im sure your ds will take this all in his stride as he has done so far, after all he is a very brave little boy .We will get some stuff together for you xx

AlienEars · 17/04/2007 22:25

I think you are local-ish to me - do they have Spitfires near you?

Let me know if I can do anything practical [email protected]

rosealbie · 17/04/2007 22:37

when my dd has been in hospital we packed loads of stickers, glitter glue, paper, fabric, play doh to make collages/glittery pictures. At least in a side room you can spread things out a bit, much more room that on the ward. We have also been known to take dd's own medical kit into hospital, we got quite a good one from Mothercare and the hospital staff have given her bits and pieces (gloves, syringes etc) to add to it. How about finger puppets? Good luck for the stay, I hope it won't be too bad for all of you.

Deuxcheekymonkeys - hope you don't mind me asking but why is your ds having kidney removed? My dd had one removed last summer. Sorry to hijack thread a bit!
