Gall Bladder Op - Anyone had it?

Has anyone had a gallbladder removed. I'm getting mine taken out and I was wondering how long I'll need off work to recover. The surgeon that's doing it said one or two nights in hosital and then it would depend on how I was feeling. I'm a bit nervous, I've never had an op before.

My auntie had hers out at the age of 78 and by all accounts she recovered quite quickly.
Don't know how much time you will need off thought ...
Hope it all goes well {{{}}}

Podmog, yes to both. Didn't fancy the open up and dig around option as I've heard it a long recovery.

My op. was early morning and was out by mid evening as I felt ok. Next morning regretted coming out so early (I hate hospitals and did everything i could to convnce them I was ok). I felt "delicate: for about four days so spent them in bed or lounging around the house doing very little other than take my painkillers. It wasn?t awful but just felt I needed to take it very easy. Over the next two weeks slowly felt better and by about day 15 was totally back to normal.
Best thing I ever did and the operation recovery was much easier than recovering from giving birth! If your keyhole surgery does get converted to full surgery it will take a couple of weeks longer but the risk factor is only about 1 in 20 for that to happen if I remember rightly

I had mine removed on the Friday and went home on the Sunday morning. Spent the following week taking it easy at home while dd was with a childminder. I was up and back to normal by the following weekend. Good luck.

I also had it by keyhole and went back to work after 2 weeks. Then fainted at work, went back to my doctor and he told me to take another 4 weeks off (so 6 weeks altogether). He's of the school of thought that says it doesn't matter if it's keyhole, you still have internal bruising and you need to rest and recuperate for six weeks. But I have to say, I felt fine after 4 weeks and could probably have gone back to work. But it was summer and if you remember, last summer was much better than this year!!!
