i have become quite spotty and im convinced they are due to a hormone imbalance.

what causes a hormone imbalance and how do you correct it? or is it something that has to be sorted out with medication from the doctor?

can the pill do that though, just all of a sudden after years make you spotty?

i think it may be the pill tbh, they say you shouldn't be on the same one for so many years.your body may be ready for a break from the pill.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 17/04/2007 16:53

The pill can mask symptoms of any underlying hormonal problem that is already there.

sorry to take over this thread but was actually going to start my own about same subject.how do you actually know you have an imbalance and,as the OP asked what can be done to help it?i have had severe depression over recent years and have noticed it is related to my cycle.i am terrible when pregnant and suffer with pmt, have constant breast pain and acne.am at the end of my tether but i am even worse on the pill and on antideppressants(Sp?) i get suicidal. can an imbalance also cause miscarriage as i have had 2?
again sorry juicychops for taking over but hopefully someone can help us both!

juicychops · 17/04/2007 17:06

dont worry ash thats ok hopefully you can get your help you need too.

i want to come off the pill but there is no other method of contraception that i fancy using. really would like a break from putting chemicals and hormones into my body that shouldn't be there

my doctor says it isn't acne but doesn't know what my spots are so thats what i have concluded it to be!! have also been extremely moody and short tempered for the last few months too

i dont like dairy products very much anyway and only have milk with cereal and that is it. no butter or cheese or any extra milk

my dp has told me about the cap (he knows loads about it for some reason) and it has convinced me to give that a try. Cant wait to come off the pill. I wonder how differnt i will feel?

FloatingLikeALeadBalloon, how long did it take for you to feel the effects of not being on the pill?

JUicychops I think I have an hormonal imbalance too but I don't want to go to the doctor either. I came off the pill in September and plan to ttc in a couple of months, since coming off the pill I have been very anxious, spotty not loads but I have never had any before apart from when I was pregnant and a lot more tired than when I was on the pill, menstrual cycle all over the place too. When I am on the pill I feel fine but I can't stay on it forever.

nogoes · 17/04/2007 18:25

I just reread the posts and realise that I seem to have the reverse problem to everyone else. The pill actually makes me feel better!
