Ds has had D&V, How can I get him to eat and drink again?

It was more D than V. He seems fine in himself now but won't eat.

From Thursday until Sunday he ate nothing more than a few mouthfuls of breadstick and a tiny bit of banana. Yesterday and today he has had only had a small amount of porridge. I've tried offering all sorts of things but he just bats them away.

He is drinking water during the day and a small amount of formula at bedtime.

NHS Direct told me to keep him off dairy and wheat products until he was better. I don't know when to reintroduce them. I don't want him to be back at square one with it all.

After all that waffling, 2 questions:

  1. Does it matter that he isn't eating? How long can they go without food, vitamins etc. He is crawling around all day long. Durely he needs some fuel inside him?
  2. How do I reintroduce dairy and wheat foods?

How old is he?
Doesn't matter if he isn't eating temporarily so long as he's having enough fluids. Once he feels better he'll probably be ravenous.

Sorry, forgot that detail. He is 11.5 months.
