I had the coil fitted last October due to v heavy periods etc.

Apart from the first couple of days with bad cramps etc, it seems to have settled, with occasional very light periods etc.

This morning I have woken and I'm losing massive clots etc and I've got really bad pains, which seem to be getting worse as the day has gone on.

Also yesterday I noticed that I was struggling to wee, and when I did it hurt, I bought some cystitus relief but it's done no good.

Could all this be interlinked do you think? I am waiting for H to get out of the bath, them I'm having a hot soak and bed with a hot water bottle.

Don't know anything about the coil, but this does not sound normal. You might have an underlying problem. Personally I will go back to the gp or consultant.

definitely see your GP immediately this is not normal if you have been having light periods on mirena to change. Perhas you have an infection of some sort?

electra · 15/04/2007 19:34

This doesn't sound right to me - I would go to your GP.

Pain still bad, did go to bed, but needed to reheat my wheatbag and get some more painkillers. Bleeding seems to have eased for the time being

I woke up this morning burning up and feeling v v sick. I got worse when I got to work and my boss sent me to the doctors.

She said that she can't examine me because of clots etc, but she says something is not wrong so she has given me 3 lots of tablets, 1 lot to stop the bleeding, 1 lot of strong antibiotics and some morphine based tablets.

I feel rotten, but going to work tomorrow. Thanks for your advice ladies

Sounds nasty. Presumably she thinks there is an infection but of what ? uti perhaps . When do you go back ?

Radley · 16/04/2007 17:09

Yes she did mention a uti, that is why she has diagnosed broad spectrum antibiotics.

I go back on thurs at 9.20, just before work, I am now pain free, the tablets have kicked in she says coil, or the surrounding area could be infected.
