What the heck is going on?

My DD is now 10 months old and my periods came back when she was 16 weeks, but have been very irregular (from 34 days to 90 days - last cycle was 50 days). I've never had a 28 day cycle, but they were also not this irregular before.

In the last few cycles, I have been getting this crampy pelvic pain every so often which lasts a few days. I get grumpy and hormonal and feel as though my period is coming, and then it doesn't. I thought maybe I was pregnant - I had pelvic pain on conceiving before - but the test was negative. I thought it might be ovulation pains, but from what I have read these should not go on for this long.

Des anyone else get this sort of thing, or am I the only wierdo?

I would ask your GP for a referral to a gynae as a matter of course. Don't put up with it.

Irregular periods are often caused by hormonal imbalances; in this regard a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common culprit. A blood test can be done to see what your hormone levels are like (ensure that the GP compares your LH level against that of your FSH level).

The cause of the pelvic pain ought to be determined as well by a gynae (not your GP).

Hm, I suspect you're right. I did see a gynae when I was trying to conceive, because I got pain for literally 5 or 6 days before my period. She checked hormone levels and all was normal, but by then I was pregnant (just didn't know it yet). This whole thing is quite wierd - can't believe my periods are so all over the place.
