My DS 2 is not circumsised , my DH is. Neither of us know how to go about cleaning underneath the foreskin. Is it safe to retract the skin of a 2.5 year old.? Do you use soap or just water?
Any advice appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you should just leave it alone. I've never touched ds1's and he's 5.6. (Is this where I find out I've done something wrong?)

My boys are 11 and 7 and I've nver done anything with them, both uncircumsized.

Quote from Great Ormond Street Baby and Childcare

"Before the age of four years the foreskin is joined to the penis and trying to force it back can cause infection." So definitely not. There's more stuff about what to do if it is infected, but this suggests to me don't clean under it.

HTH.

Leave it alone. Washing the outside with soap and water is enough.

Here's what the American Association of Pediatrics have to say about it.
