Just wipe over the eye with warm water on tissue or cotton wool. It might be a minor eye infection so tomorrow, if his eyes have yellow discharge, see the pharmacist or the dr. It won't be anything serious.

Bathe it with a cotton wool ball soaked in cooled boiled water (but I've used just plain water in the past with no problems). Sounds like it is conjunctivitis, so you may need to see the doc if it is severe. The chemist will also sell you some eye drops, which I always found effective in preventing further infection if I caught it early enough. Can't remember what it is called, though - sorry. HTH, and hope your ds is better soon.

Brolene is the stuff you need - you can get it over the counter.

Just read that your DS is 1 - not sure whether Brolene can be used for that age - have just checked the information insert and doesn't mention ages - just says suitable for children and adults.

If you're breastfeeding, I understand breastmilk is very good for eye infections.

I used brolene on my 18 mo as pharmacist said it would be ok.

Homeopathic remedy called Euphrasia is simply fantastic for any kind of eye infections will stop conjunctivitis in its tracks most times just when the itching starts. Try and get it in tincture form (liquid) and put a few drops into cooled boiled water and then dip cotton wool in and wipe eyes always one way inside to outside then throw away the cotton wool never use the same piece twice or on the other eye. Also its a good idea to change the bedding he sleeps on particularily pillow cases!!! You can get the remedy from Ainsworths they will post it to you. Sorry cant manage links but you will find it on google or email me and i will find the tele no for you!!!! HTH

my DH suffers from Blepheritis - his eyelids can look inflammed and they weep if he doesn't do the following X2 daily:

make a 1:10 solution of Johnson's baby shampoo and water. Using a clean cotton wool pad (separate ones for each eye), dip into the shampoo solution and swab the eye thoroughly.

HTH.

A cotton soaked in cooled camomile tea is great.

1 teaspoon of sodium bicarb in 1 pint water (cooled boiled) is fab. I kept the pint in the fridge and decanted it into an eyebath to bathe my eyes but you could decant it and bathe with cotton wool too.
