Been taking them for a few days now, and I am sure I need to give them at least a week to work, but has anyone had any side effects.

Really appreciate any comments

I've been taking them for the last month and have really noticed a difference. I started exercising and changed my diet at the same time.

I don't know if my huge improvement in mood is down to the SJW or the exercise/diet, either way I'm going to continue to take them.

I've had no side effects at all and I know a few other people who have taken them/take them and no-one has mentioned suffering any side effects.

I had vivid nightmares the second time round I took them.

you probably already know this, but if you're taking the contraceptive pill (Microgynon 30 especially) then St John's Wort negates the effect....

hope it works for you.

St John's Wort can also lower blood pressure, or so i've heard, anyway. that could cause the clumsiness perhaps?? just a thought.

thanks for explaining that theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs, least I have a reason for why its happening and doesn't add to my paranoia, hence why I taking them in the first place.

St J W interacts with other medicines so if you are taking anything else, check it out with your doc. IIRC it increases the effect of warfarin, for instance, commonly prescribed for people at risk of blood clots.

thanks for all your advice, I am currently not taking any other medication or the pill.

i have had a very stressful couple of months which have now sorted themselves out, i seeing this as some sort of release, so thought about taking them to perk me up, I had a lot of similar symptoms to when I had PND but nowhere near as severe, I thought I would take them for a few weeks and see how I feel before seeing the doctor.

I have just started taking this too as I came off fluxoetine a month ago as I was fed up of the side effects and also didn't want to take them for the rest of my life - my PMT then came back with a vengence and it seems that it has never passed, just feel so despondent and fed up now so this week I bought some SJW and have been taking it 3 days, not sure if its working, haven't had any side effects yet. How long do they take to work?

I too have been dieting and exercising and have reason to feel better about myself as I have lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks but I don't.

bouncy · 09/04/2007 18:06

I never actuall felt any different, i just got dizzy spells, decided to stop taking them, still feel dizzy today, hopefully I will be better tomorrow. Hope they work for you.
