I have been suffering with recurrent thrush on and off for around 2 years. I finally got round to going to GP, had tests which confirmed severe thrush, other infections ruled out and was prescribed a 6 month maintenance dose of fluconazole. I've been doing this for around 5 weeks it seems to have cleared it up and I haven't had any of the annoying symptoms. The only thing is I am finding that having sex with DH still feels sore at the entrance to begin with and that I am getting a slight - not tear exactly - but little kind of "nick" or fissure at the bottom of the vagina on penetration (sorry - tmi!). I can feel when it happens and it is mildly uncomfortable but not so bad that we are unable to carry on. It bleeds a tiny tiny amount and within a day or 2 has healed. This has happened the last few times we have had sex (which hasn't been very often due to the thrush).
I wondered if any other ladies out there have experienced anything like this?
I do feel very tense/worried about having sex due to the association with thrush/discomfort and find that this has started to get in the way of me getting fully turned on. Often in the lead up, I am worrying constantly about whether the skin will split so I am not sure if it could be caused by anxiety/being tense and then it has become a vicious cycle? I know it is my fault for taking so long to go to the Drs about the thrush but just want it sorted! If anyone has any advice on how to stop this happening, would be much appreciated!
