Finally (after over a decade of being deaf and no fecker suggesting my hearing loss was anything but permanent 
) I've just been diagnosed with otoschlerosis.
Happy days! I loathe and detest my hearing aids (I only wear one though I'm meant to wear two) so I'm now hoping to have a stapedectomy, possibly via private health care.
I would love to know other MNetter's experience of this op and also if anyone can recommend an experienced consultant (I'm in the South East, near Stansted).
