Strange movements in abdomen

For the last week, I've been having bizarre movements just below my belly button. It's like a baby moving. You can see the movement even through a jumper and DH has witnessed it too. It happens several times an hour, for a few seconds at a time. It might stop for a few hours, but then starts up again. There's no rhyme or reason to it in terms of time of day, of what I'm doing though I notice it more when sitting/ lying down.

I'm not pregnant (currently have period - plus the strength of them would be 6month + baby kicks and I have had no pregnancy symptoms at all). I'm 50. The DC are early teens.

I had a smear test a few days before all this started up and the nurse couldn't feel the strings of my Mirena so has already referred me for an ultrasound (likely to take a month or so to come through). I don't think there's any point seeing a GP as I'm already going to have the ultrasound.

Can anyone shed any light or had similar? It's freaking me out a bit to be honest.

Worms are practically microscopic! It's not worms.

It's probably wind.

BTW there is a LOT of crap talked about "parasites" online and most of it is utter utter crap designed to sell you some expensive and quack like cure. Be very cautious especially if any info you find is on "natural health" sites.

It's rather unlikely you'd have a tapeworm and threadworms are distinctive if you've had small children, you'll know what to look for, it's definitely not wriggling sensations in the stomach.

I used to get this up until I had my hysterectomy. It turns out that I had so many adhesions from 2 previous c-sections that loops of my bowel were stuck to each other. They'd rearranged themselves so that I'd get a buildup of trapped wind and then it would kind of 'bubble' through the kink and it felt JUST like a baby kicking.

I would recommend you go to the doctor and ask for an ultrasound. It might be something, it might be nothing. Either way you need to get it checked it.

I don't want to scare you but I had symptoms I ignored and it didn't turn out well.

Please don't worry..... it's almost certainly your faeces / wind moving through your system..... it literally can feel like a baby. There is a medical word for it that I can't remember but it's a thing!!! Go to the dr obviously to put your mind at ease but that's almost certainly what it is!! I had it.... thought oh my god there's a baby in there..... the dr was mildly amused! X
