What's a normal period? How do I tell what's heavy or light?

I think my periods are quite light but I've got no comparison. They seem lighter after my miscarriage and it is worrying me.

Pre miscarriage, they were 5 days ish, two days that were heavier than the others and the rest were just spotting.

Even on the heaviest days, id only need three light pads. And if I used tampons, I used the smallest, lightest ones possible.

I'm now only getting one day like that, and the other days are quite light.

Is this normal? Does it sound like a radical change? Do I just have light periods? What's normal?

I have no idea what's normal but I get through a tampon and pad over 2 hours for the first two days then it slows to having to change a tampon every 3-4 hours for a couple of days then a last day or two of not much. I can never go without a pad as everything leaks. So I'm guessing mine are quite heavy.

Thanks Henry. I'm guessing mine are light and yours heavy, I've never experienced that. I'm worried it's a sign something is wrong!

mine are light IMO. i get through around 3-4 pads a day, the first day its heavier than day 2 and 3, then virtually nothing on day 4.

i do change even when there isnt much there though.

I think mine are heavy.

I have days 1-3 where I need to change pads every 2 hours. If I go to the toilet and wipe I can have clots or when I go to flush the loo I can see the darkness of a clot in the bottom of the toilet. Days 4-6 are lighter. Days 1-3 I'll need to change pad in the night. I generally leak too.

I'm always so tired and irritable.

Eskimo has that caused any issues? Do they know why they're light?

It's whatevwr is normal for you.

I can use a light tampon on a heavy day and not fill it (so uncomfortable). And then have a few days fo spotting where a liner is fine.

Now i use a moon cup and then liners.

I'd class mine as light.

Day 1, 2 and 3. Normal use tampons changed every 4 hours ish but mainly due to TSS risk not flooding. I use a normal tampon overnight and never have leakage.

Day 4 virtually no blood loss apart from a few hours where I need a super tampon

Day 5 very light flow - could easily not use anything

Then it's all over

Wasn't always that way - before children it was often horrific!!

Mine are like that too Knockknockknock. Maybe it's within the normal range!

I've never assumed I was anything but normal - lucky but definitely normal 😁

I used to think so but I think I'm overthinking it after my loss. It's convinced me there's something wrong

DragonsandDungeons ive never had it investigated, i assume its due to exercise because i lift weights 4 times a week! i dont think it means there is anything wrong, everyone is different.

before i started exercising they used to be alot heavier and painful. i also have a better diet. my cycle is quite short though, 27 days. although it was 23 days after a stressful few months once!
