Gallstones or h pylori?

I'm waiting for some tests but just wondered if anyone has had either of these?

I had a bad episode last night with crushing back pain about 2 hours after a meal, slowly radiated to front. Eventually disappeared. Fine this morning but my back has begun to get sore again this afternoon.

Think the GP is covering all bases and has started me on 2 lots of antibiotics and omeprazole but if it's gallbladder related not sure if that will help? Had a range of blood tests today so no doubt will get the answer next week.

Can you get a bad back with h pylori? Or is that more likely to be gallstones?

It could also have been trapped wind if it's a one off...don't underestimate the agony of that! I actually thought I would have to wake do and go to A and E a month or so back with a pain like you describe-if it had been on the left I would have thought I was having a heart attack! Had a drink of fuzzy water and a gaviscon, did a massive burp and was fine!

However, I did have h.pylori some years ago and never got pain like that. With me it was more like indigestion, burning just under where your bra finishes (iyswim) quite localised and constant. Your pain sounds more like the pain people describe when they have gallbladder attacks. My GP kept telling me mine would be gallbladder but it wasn't, (as I already had guessed from Dr google!)

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Thank you. It's not been constant though this time is a low level ache so am thinking gallstones rather than hp. That said the back pain is lower part of back and I thought gallstone pain was more top half of back.

Think I need to wait and see what the results say. I've been Dr Googling too!

Step away from Dr Google! (said the pot to the kettle) I was dying of a combination of lung cancer, stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer when I had h.pylori!)

I thought, but may be wrong, also that gallstones was sort of under right ribcage and tended to radiate up towards shoulder. Could it be a kidney infection?

When I had h pylori it was definitely my stomach and nowhere else. I could feel the outline and shape of my stomach if that makes sense and I was adamant to doctor it wasn't my lungs, heart, anything else.

Hmm. Don't know what to think really.

For a few weeks I've had a dull pain on my left where you would get a stitch.

About a week ago, I had a roast dinner, and that night I had chills, and a sudden need to have a bowel movement, which I did - it wasn’t diarrhoea though. A couple of days later I noticed the stitch pain on the left return.

Went to GPs, he examined me and I had tenderness in the middle of my tummy. He suggested a stool test and omeprazole.

Roll forward a couple more days and following a large meal had terrible crushing back pain, which slowly disappeared to pain in my tummy.

Back to GPs yesterday, lots of blood tests and another exam. She pressed on right under my boob and it hurt. She said that's where the gallbladder is. Now referred to scan. She also started me on two lots of antibiotics and said she thought acute cholecystitis.

Lower back pain returned yesterday on both sides , eating minimally and low fat.

Today the left stitch pain is still there and my first wee of the day was bright yellow.

Any guesses to what it could be?? Either way I'm hoping the antibiotics will help.

No pain in my shoulder though - gawd now I'm thinking kidney infection??

Did you have a meal with a high fat content as they were a trigger for my gallstones attack though didn't realise it at the time. And the omeprazole did help me. Try eating low fat for a couple of days and see if that helps. I once had two boiled eggs with some bread and butter and felt I was nearly passing out with the pain. It's no good though trying to be diagnosed on the internet. The scan will tell all.

Bertiemcgertie · 16/09/2017 09:19

Thanks vivienne. Yes I definitely need to step away from Dr Google!

I had a jacket potato with butter, plus had a bit of mayo with my chicken - so strong contender! Second day of low fat food - just want this lower back pain to bugger off.

Well I had lower back pain with stomach pain also for around two weeks-the pain in the stomach area was constant but it did move about.
I googled and became convinced it was Stomach or Pancreatic Cancer-so please do not take good ole Doc Google to heart!
Anyway after lots of other tests it turns out my problems are IBS-so nothing to do with Gallstones or H plyori-So you never know!

Bertiemcgertie · 18/09/2017 11:34

Thanks charlie! Blood tests are back and it's not an urgent call back to GP just a follow up. Will find out later. Must admit I got Googling happy over the weekend and was imagining all sorts too.

Hope your IBS has calmed down now.

Oh that's a relief for you! Hope it's something that can be cleared up quickly.

What did it end up being?
