Getting a monitor fitted tomorrow for checking blood pressure as blood pressure reading at the docs always high possibly white coat syndrome
But I'm wondering if anyone has had one and what's it like
I do suffer from anexity so nervous already haha plus is it noticeable as work cleaning in the evenings

I have anxiety as well - and I'm always nervous at the GP surgery. When I had the 24-hour monitor, I was convinced my readings would be sky-high; I was so aware of it on my arm and that made me feel tense. You do feel it inflate regularly, which is quite odd to begin with - but I slept through it during the night.

I was actually quite embarrassed to be told my readings over the 24 hours were " quite normal". So my advice is to ignore it as much as you can and just do what you'd be doing normally. Better to be busy than sitting there waiting for the next "squeeze" Grin

Hope it goes well Flowers

I've had it done 3 times. Try and resist the temptation to look st the readings as you go along. I can't help myself and then get more anxious.

A couple of people I work with have worn one in the office and if they hadn't told me about it.

It's not silent but I couldn't hear it in a fairly quiet office

TyneTeas · 11/09/2017 19:32

^ if they hadn't told me about it, I wouldn't have noticed this should say...

I have health anxiety and had it after high pulse it was ok annoyingly I had it at 10am after rushing my final piece of uni work all night after the tutor lied to me - it was due at 9am. It does a reading every 15 mins or half hour but at bigger intervals at night

Got fed up of the wire when wearing pjs as no pocket to put the box in n kept ending up with it wrapped round me. Had to keep twirling the other way to disentangle myself. Was fine whilst at work cos could tuck the box into my waistband

It was fine. Like you my doctor thought my high readings were maybe 'white coat syndrome'. (this must be a standard medical term as this was exactly what she said!!)

I was surprised at how quickly I got used to it and slept through the night ones. I hardly noticed it after the first couple. And all my readings were perfectly normal so maybe she was right.

Thanks for all the advice

Bp always seems to be high when I go to the docs for something but reason I'm getting tested is due to my pill so they know if to change it a year early or to see if it's down to my anexity that its high

Read over the notes that came with letter and it does state that if for whatever reason I'm uncomfortable while wearing it is too tight then i can take it off and they will use what readings that were took

It's good to know that there's others out there too Smile
