Ok this is a little strange and im not sure wether to leave it or take a trip to the g.p this morning.

Yesterday afternoon i suddenly started feeling really strange i was:-

Lightheaded (felt drunk)
Jelly Legs
Co Ordination out
No energy

So i had a bath and went to bed and felt alot better, then about 10pm i wake up shivering so violently the whole bed is shaking and i have an imense pain in my right kidney area. (pain in kidney not unusual for me been on and off since baby was born)

DP took my temp it was 40.5 i couldn't move or anything and was hallucinating all over the place. It was so scary.

I pursuaded DP not to call a dr and finally managed to fall into a fitfull sleep.

I have woken up today like it never happened feeling fine.
So hence im not sure wether to see the g.p, my temp is normal (36.6) and the pain has gone for now. The g.p is only on this morning but i feel a fraud going in there feeling well, but something was obviously up yesterday,
What would you do?

Go to the dr.

Symptoms like that don't just appear for no reason, and ifit was mre, I'd want to know why...

MintChocChippyMinton · 04/04/2007 07:57

I'd make an appointment for tomorrow in case it re-occurs tonight, and cancel if i was fine. Sounds nasty though.

filthymindedvixen · 04/04/2007 07:58

Could you call NHS direct to see if ti might be a urine infection or something?Or even kidney stones...??I'd ring them, and depending on what they say, make a gp appointment. Hope you're ok!

I f I felt completely better I'd do nothing

badelaide · 04/04/2007 08:01

I would go, definitely. They really won't mind as it sounds like it was pretty scarey. My sis is a gp's receptionist and she says, (esp. if you're unsure about going like you are) to overplay your symptoms.
I bet they say "just a virus", but imagine if it happens again and you hadn't gone to the gp.,you'll be crapping yourself.
Glad you feel better anyway!

Charleesunnysunsun · 04/04/2007 08:01

Yeah it was nasty very scary if it wern't for the kids i waould have let DP call for help.
Our surgery is a pain though my Dr only works Mon, Wed and Fri and it's a walk in surgery there is another Dr for the other days but she's shall we say not a nice woman so i wouldn't want to see her tomorrow.

First thing i must do is have abath im drenched in sweat!

I would just expect it were a cold or flu but i have no other symptoms.

Last night i thought it was a kidney infection, i had a kidney problem when i was pg with DS2 (5months) it was'nt flushing but i was told it would correct itself when h ewas born i have been left with an on/off pain there which last night was agonising but its gone again now!

MintChoc's idea is good

FlossALump · 04/04/2007 08:10

i think you should make an appointment. temperatures often spike up and down when you have an infection, when its up you'll feel awful, when its down you will feel (comparatively) better. A kidney infection is not to be messed with and a temp of 40.5 is very high. Go please!

Charleesunnysunsun · 04/04/2007 08:15

Yes i think i will go, if not for me then DP he was in a right old tizzy last night. Our family Dr is a very nice man so i think if i explain to him he will be ok with it. thanks.

I would ring the surgery and ask to see the doc today.
Normally one of the triage nurses calls back and assesses whether they think you need to see someone. I would rather go and find out i was fine than leave it and end up collapsing!

NutyNige · 04/04/2007 08:47

Good CSS, good luck and let us know how it goes!

Charleesunnysunsun · 04/04/2007 12:45

I saw the G.P, basicly my kidney is very swollen and i have excessive blood traces in my wee sample, the Dr thought i must be having a period! (im not)

He has given me a 5 day course of anti biotics and has sent the sample off. I have to go back in on Tuesday to get the results and to arrange further tests for my kidney. He says last night was probably related and just to rest up with paracetamol. (ha ha)

So not what i need right now

Glad you went though CSS. Not what you need but could have been much worse if left. hope you are well again soon.
