Does anyone else suffer from feelings of falling/unbalance and have tinnitus? It is all driving me mad, as soon as my head hits the pillow it starts and its scary. During the day its 90% ok, I just cannot sleep and its getting me down

Poor you, triplets.
I haven't ever suffered, but it sounds horrible. Have you been to your doctor about it?

pucca · 04/04/2007 00:00

Triplets...Yes i do, i have vertigo, started with it in Jan and still get spells of it now.

Seems really bad in the dark (like when getting into bed), also when i get up in the morning, if i stand up too quickly i literally run into the wall (is quite funny actually).

It is awful and quite frightening though.

pucca · 04/04/2007 00:00

Forgot to add, go and see your GP, i was given some tablets which really helped.

triplets · 04/04/2007 01:04

Hi Pinkchampagne, fancy seeing you on here! Can you not sleep either? Pucca do you have tinnitus as well? Yes I have been to my GP several times, referred to an ENT specialist who also did a hearing test, had an MRI scan and it has all revealed nothing! Which is good............but it is driving me mad! Its now 1am and I took in desperation a sleeping tablet at 11pm, just had a mug of Bournvita and half a bag of choc covered nuts, still wide awake and dread going back to bed!

You poor thing, triplets, it must be awful.

I am not sleeping great atm, due to the stress of my forthcoming move, and yesterday my friend was admitted to hospital & I am very worried about her.
I like to put off bedtime for as long as possible, on the thinking I will be so tired that I will just crash!

Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end.
Sorry that I have no advice re the tinnitus, just sympathy!

welliemum · 04/04/2007 10:15

Triplets, sorry to hear this.

Have you looked on the RNID website - I think they have some info. (Would find it for you but am in a rush)

The trick with tinnitus (I have had it for years) is ignore, ignore, ignore. Never listen to it and never allow yourself to feel bothered about it.

Easy to say, I know, but it can be done and once you've learned the trick of blanking it out, life gets a lot simpler.

Good luck!

Husband has tinnitus so I understand the problem - when the noise gets too bad he takes ginko for a few weeks and it reduces.

triplets · 04/04/2007 22:10

Thanks everyone, I think in the end the best advice is to try and ignore it, the RNID site says that. Many people have tried many things, but it seems to always come back! So tonight I am going to try staying up instead of going to bed early, reading then trying to sleep. I shall be on here and read downstairs thne go up and just turn off the light, we`ll see! Pinkchampagne, did not know you were moving, staying local I hope? Did you know we are on the market? Desperately need more space!

Yes I am moving very soon, triplets! All on my own with the boys & it is causing me lots of stress!
I am staying local though. I am moving very near to the school.
Didn't realise you were on the market! Have you seen anywhere you like?

triplets · 04/04/2007 22:28

Yes, in Kingsdown, very near the school too! They have had an offer but its a long chain, but until we get a buyer its hopeless, only been on just over two weeks, had 3 viewings so far, 1 booked for Sat. We should meet up when the kids go back to school, never see you around the town. Good luck with the move, very brave!

Sounds nice! I do like Kingsdown!

It would be good to meet up sometime. I work in a school, but only work half days on Wednesday & Thursday.
I am in town quite a bit, but try to avoid it with the children if possible!

triplets · 04/04/2007 23:08

I know what you mean, tomorrow is going to cost me a fortune. Rebecca and I have a hair appt, Harry will be at work so will have to take all three on the bus, that over a fiver, £35 for hair, then it will be drinks, sweets etc! People often say they don`t see me out with them much, unless its to the dreaded park like today!

Last time I took both boys to town, DS2 helped himself to a bottle of suncream in Superdrug!!!
I try to avoid taking them if I can help it...far too stressful!!
