I have had a awfully bad cold/flu for a week, and it is starting to clear off now but i am left unable to hear in my right ear.

Never had this before, has anyone else? feels very strange.

TIA

takes a while to clear up but it does - I clled it "spongelitis" - the flu bug this year was very nasty on the ears and I felt like my head was filled with sponges - hence "spongelitis"

I had this last year for the first time (and I am getting on a bit!). Not what you want to hear (excuse pun) but Dr basically looked in my ear and said it wasn't blocked from the outside (wax etc) IYSWIM and he could give not treatment except wait for it to clear. It was a swelling/blockage in the inner ear, tube to throat connects with nose & it gets blocked/swollen. It took about 6 weeks to clear. Good news is it hasn;t reoccured.
