My little girl seems to be constantly getting sick. She had tonsilitis with a chest infection in November, tonsilitis again in January. Two weeks ago she got a cold, with earache, temps up and down, followed with an eye infection andtonsilitis again, and is coughing constantly throughout the night. Doctor tells me this is all normal for the age, which I am inclined to believe, however, her tonsils are allways enlarged which concerns me. I would really like to boost her immune system any suggestions would be welcome. Other people have told me to see an ears, nose and eye specialist- again doctors tells me not neccessary.. How can I tell if this cough is an infection or virus?

If bacterial usually some pus and coating on tongue. Ds suffers far too much from this too (aged 7) had over 6 infections this year (another one of scarlet fever). We saw Dr again today as he is finishing his 10 day course of ab's and now has a secondary viral infetion in tonsils.

Ears hurt him due to sore throat. He has been referred to ENT Peadeatric Surgical Consultant just recently due to this and time off school.

Your daughter may well grow out of it, how old is she? Ds is getting to the stage that it is affecting attendence at school and social life. Having them out tho is v painful (remembering mine being taken out) so if there was an alternative for him I would look at it. Thing is he gets so poorly with tonsilittis and the possible complications of recurring infections and sthe strep (which can lead to menigitis) is too much and I just want him to be ok.

Totally understand your frustrations
