Restless Leg Syndrome - Have you heard of it?

I have recently been in hospital. I was told that I could not sleep because I had 'restless leg Syndrome', which I don't think I have! I am in a wheel chair and paralized in my legs so I doubt it, but I am curious to know what it is? I was told it is where women can't sleep at night due to twitching legs that 'jump' around and that there is no cure and no one knows what causes it and it is really common in about 25% of women. Am I missing out on something here? It sounds like it is the perfect syndrome, no cause, no reason and no cure. Do you have it?

I am not pregnant and have not been pregnant for over 2 years. But I think that the problem probably did originate in pregnancy. I will try the shower thing tonight because I can feel that they are already a bit like that.

I had this terribly in both of my pregnancies from about 6 months on and still get it occasionally now. I was told that eating a banana helps, not sure how true this is as I have yet to try it.

Bananas can help if you're low in potassium (think its potassium) but they haven't helped me, so I guess there are other causes.
Its definitely worse when I'm tired - but then, what isn't?!

Had something like that in pregncany...pain in the neck it was too...or pain in the legs, should I say, ...very unpleasant!

I have it - not very badly but it wakes me up sometimes as I am falling asleep - if I'm tired on the sofa in the evening they will jerk too
