Hello, can anyone help, please?
I had a lower molar extracted five weeks ago after a failed root canal. It was a difficult extraction because it really didn't want to come out, and the dentist ended up sectioning it into bits and then removing the roots. I was back a fortnight ago and she said it was healing nicely - I thought I had food stuck in the socket because I felt sharp bits poking out, but she told me these were tiny fragments of tooth, and took them out with tweezers. She said this was common after a complex extraction and nothing to worry about. They were minute when she showed me them although they felt huge on my tongue! The hole is virtually closed now apart from a bit at the very back, but I can feel more of the sharp bits lying under the gum where it's healed over - if I touch it with my finger they're sitting just under the surface, and I can move them with my nail. Will these eventually come out, or do I need to go in and get my gum cut? (Obviously I can't keep my tongue away from them.) My dentist is absolutely lovely, but I feel like she must be sick of my face because I have been back and forth with this stupid tooth so much - I hoped getting it out would be the end of its trouble-making!
