I had a catheter ablasion on my heart on Monday and since thursday evening I have had great pain in my back just about where my heart is! It hurts to move my back, stand, sit, and take a deep breath. I went to see dr about it yesterday as it was so painful, he checked my heart and lungs and said they were ok. If I was to get shortness of breath then dont hesitate to seek medical advice,-so far I havent!!! he also told me to take neurofen,it did ease a bit this morning but now it is worse than ever! I am still taking the neurofen but honestly just wish it would go! (have even tried a wheat bag!)

I have no idea but could you call the surgeon/consultant who did the ablasion? (or his/her department)

bubblicious - is your breathing definitely ok? I wouldn't want to panic you and it probably isn't this but my dd had a clot after she had a cardiac catheter. Can you call the ward and ask for advice?

bubblicious · 31/03/2007 21:57

NO my breathing is absolutely ok

Good Did you have a GA for your ablasion or were you awake?

foxinsocks · 31/03/2007 22:00

if the pain is so bad that nurofen isn't working, I would call now tbh.

You won't be wasting anyone's time and I'm sure they'd rather hear from you than not if you're worried.

LedodgyCheapEasterEggsAreASin · 31/03/2007 22:01

Ring them NOW it may be an infection but better to get it checked now than not!

bubblicious · 31/03/2007 22:03

lol - but has it worked?

Seriously though, maybe a call to the ward is in order. Could be pericarditis,

bubblicious · 31/03/2007 22:20

heart seems to try and keep revving up but then doesnt seem to have the energy-thank goodness!

I have had a text from bubblicious this morning & I am sure she won't mind me posting on her behalf, as she is hopefully resting atm!
She phoned the nurse this morning & explained her symptoms to her. The nurse said immediately that it sounded like she had something called Pericarditus, which is basically inflamation of the heart lining.
She was told that the only thing she could do was rest & continue with the pain killers, and if no improvement in two days, she is to go back to the GP.
