Will he take ice-pops essbee?
Tbh I would be concerned with the combination of drinks refusal AND ongoing diarrhoea. I would keep trying the doctors, that they aren't answering at present. Hope he feels better very soon.

Still liquid I guess...oh, essbee, what a worry
I'd honestly ring NHS Direct to get some advice. I know you are meant to be on the case very fast with tiny children but ds is older (the age of mine I think). So one may not need to panic. Try pinching the skin on the back of his hand. If it stays compressed rather than springing back immediately then he could be dehydrated.
does he still have the diarrhoea as badly as last night?

Oh how worrying for you, essbee.

I would definitely give NHS direct a ring & see what they suggest.

I would give them a call, it's better to be safe than sorry, especially as he is not getting much in the way of fluids atm.

Hope he is feeling better soon.x

Did the doctor give you any advice despite not being able to examine him?

Poor you, essbee, it sounds very tough & very draining. Have you got any support at all?

foxinsocks · 31/03/2007 21:44

what a shame they can't come to you - will your own GP do a home visit perhaps (if it's still a problem on MOnday)?

is he still not drinking anything?

will he eat anything that has liquid in it (like apples or melon or something)?

Feeling dizzy isn't good. If he doesn't eat or drink then he could end up in hospital on a drip to rehydrate him. I'd think the reason he hasn't needed the loo in a few hours is there's nothing in there to come out so his water reserves are being used up and also food hence the dizziness. Would it help if you explained that to him? If you haven't already of course. The most important thing is that he drinks something, best is water but anything will do. Failing that I'd call emergency drs or take him to a and e as if the nhs direct drs wanted to see him then he should be seen.

foxinsocks · 31/03/2007 21:57

I think you're doing very well not downing the whisky yourself .

Unfortunately, the feeling dizzy/headache are probably signs of him starting to get a bit dehydrated but at least he's stopped having diarrheoa.

I don't know what else to suggest because I'm sure you would have tried everything - does he understand the consequence of him not drinking anything (i.e. another trip back to the hospital), that might be worth a try (please discount if you've already gone down that route).

I'm sorry you're not getting any help - sounds very hard on a day to day basis. Are the school working with you to get him back because having him at home all the time must be doing your head in!
