DS 2.5 eating less and less...

ds used to be a meat monster and eat everything in sight. Then suddenly went off meat but at least still ate bread and fruit. Lately it's been hit and miss with food and all he wants is milk and bananas. Today nursery staff, who have still been able to blackmail him into eating something by withholding pudding until he did so can't get much into him either. Today he's had 8oz of milk, 1 bite of a banana and 1 bite of a sandwich that's it! You'd think he'd be starving but now he even doesn't want milk! He's still full of energy so not extremely worried yet but how long can he live of his reserves?!?

Tried not giving him milk to basically starve him so he'll eat but that didn't work either and all I got was a very wingy ds during the day and a very disturbed nicht...

If things don't change over the weekend I'll be dragging him to the GP. Not sure what they'll do if they see how full of beans ds is though.
HELP

dont worry

its completey normal...

so long as they are growing there is nothing to worry about

many toddlers seem to live on fresh air, and so long as you only offer them nutritouse food and dont let them fill up on junk they will be fine

also at about that age many toddlers appetetites decrease dramatically.

all a 'normal' toddler phase

my worry is that ds doesn't even want junk food, which I offered in last effort to get something into him. As for offering nutritious food... I do but he won't touch it All he's had so far today is milk

dont worry, its all normal

he will catch up when hes hungry.

dont offer junk, just ncie food and sooner or later he will eat something!

also dont let him fill up on too much milk either... other wise he wont be hungry enough to eat

weigh him. MAke a note and if this continues weigh him again weekly or fortnightly. If there is a drastic loss in weight (very unlikely) then you need to take him to doctors.

Ds has eaten about that amount most days for over a year. He is now 2.5. HE is still a reasonable weight (god knows how ) but they can seem to live off fresh air.

Give him the same amount of milk as you would usually do. And keep offering meals, if he doesn't eat them then pretend you don't care (difficult I know).

Try offering a choice of two meals for lunch or similar. Or make a picnic meal and see if he eats any more.

BUt he really can survive easily on that little.

If really worried, give some vitamins like abidec (supermarkets sell it).

HOpefully it will just be a short lived phase.

thanks for all your advice offered him a croissant as he normally can't resist, he did grab it and started shoving it into his mouth but stopped 1/2 way through. Might take him to the doc Monday anyhow to see whether his throat is ok He's been coughing quite a bit today
