Heartburn (not pregnancy related)

Hi all.

Does anyone else get heartburn ONLY in the evening and when they've had water?

I take medication and sometimes afterwards, I get the worse heartburn. It's only when I have had water and my medication together. If I had my medication on with a soft drink, it wouldn't happen. It's like it's the water that triggers it. I don't get it.

Please help!

Can't comment on the medication connection, but I do know that drinking water with a meal makes me more likely to have heartburn (and ds2, too, when he was still suffering from reflux, as a younger child.) I read that the theory is that it's something to do with the water having diluted your stomach acid, and that can sometimes trigger an overshoot in the production of more acid to compensate for the dilution. I can drink an acidic drink (e.g. wine or fruit juice) with a meal and be far less likely to get indigestion than if I have water, which isn't really what you'd expect.
